What A Gent’s Wearing: Italian Styling for Summer

Italian Summer Styling

Following on from our post last month about styling a Summer Evening Outfit in Black, we had several requests to put an outfit together that would be more appropriate for summer mornings/afternoons but follows a similar style. As a result we decided to tailor the outfit’s colours and style to better suit a Mediterranean morning rather than an evening dinner party.

The main focus of this outfit is the use of lighter colours to help provide a more relaxed look whilst at the same time appearing clean and smart. The straight-cut beige chinos compliment the white polo shirt by neither creating too much of a contrast nor being so pale that the colours blend into one another. The use of a black belt and shoes provide breaks between the paler items of clothing and definition, with the overall effect being that the outfit looks sharper. This ensemble can easily be made more casual by exchanging the smarter shoes for navy blue espadrilles or tan boat shoes and belt, should the occasion be more informal. Easily put together and extremely flexible this is perfect for casual strolls around town in the sun or breakfast with friends.

Much of the inspiration for this outfit comes from our post last week about movie style icons, in particular Michael Fassbender’s attire. A great example of Italian fashion this is simple, smart and appropriate for both the younger and older gentleman in summer. It can easily be paired with a navy blazer or lightweight cardigan should the temperature cool a little in the evening.
