The suit is a gentleman’s staple outfit. Elegant, sharp, sophisticated and masculine it is an icon of men’s fashion and one that you will see everyday. However, ensuring your tailoring stays exciting and new is difficult as not all of us can afford to purchase a new suit every week. A great solution is to ensure that the details and styles of your suit/accessories are versatile and interesting so that you can match them up to a variety of looks. So here are 3 tips to keeping your tailoring on top form.
Knitted Ties Get Noticed
We have only recently started wearing knitted ties and we’re already hooked. Their texture and designs make them incredibly eye-catching in ways that normal ties might not be. With the knitted effect adding a new layer to the style and acting as a “three dimensional pattern” it can spruce up your suit in seconds. We particularly like some of the styles from T.M. Lewin (shown above) as they have a great quality feel with beautiful fabrics and inspired designs.
Experiment With Patterns
We’ve spoken a lot about suit material on this blog already, but one sure fire way to up your suit’s style is to incorporate patterns. Above, we have 3 grey suits incorporating different check patterns to evoke different looks. The first is a grey check suit from Moss Bros which provides an air of professional attire, subtle and sophisticated in its nature. The second is a Glen Check style from Charles Tyrwhitt which gives a more classic feel to the overall design and exudes class and vintage style. The third is from one of our favourite designers SuitSupply who have brought modern stylings to this Havana Check suit, utilizing dark greys and yellow detail to give a contrast that makes a statement. Importantly, this is just check patterns! There are so many to experiment with so take the time to try a few and your suits will always look the part.
Draw Focus With Footwear
Looking good from head-to-toe means that you need to pay attention to everything from your head to your toes, literally. Footwear can often be a missed opportunity for men with many electing to simply go for black shoes for the sake of simplicity. However, by ensuring your footwear makes a statement, you can give your entire outfit a boost. Above are some great examples of modern footwear designs from Russell & Bromley, Paul Smith and Jones the Bootmaker to add style to your stride.
That covers our round-up of the best men’s style tips for sprucing up your suit styles. As always, feel free to comment, like and share with your friends if you’ve enjoyed the article. Be sure to subscribe for future updates from The Male Stylist and keep an eye out for future competitions.
