A few weeks back myself and a few other bloggers were invited along to an Christmas photoshoot in Shoreditch by the people from Joe Brown’s. It was a great chance to meet up with fellow bloggers, both well-established and new, as well as catch up with a friend or two. It was also an opportunity to style something I hadn’t previously tried before, namely an outfit that uses heavier, thick-wool tailoring to give a slightly rustic look.
The look itself was built using a blazer and waistcoat made of thick grey wool in a herringbone pattern, giving it a classic style with a dapper touch. Combined with a white shirt and dark grey, dogtooth check tie meant the look encapsulated a slightly rustic feel. Finally, I paired these elements with a pair of slim fit, dark navy jeans and some chunky, chelsea boots. I really liked the combination and, ultimately, it was very comfortable and warm during the outdoor shoot around London.
It was great to spend time and meet new bloggers and a few familiar faces during such a fun day. The most important lesson from the shout was understanding how cold temperature shouldn’t stop your self expression through styles. Every individuals’ character was represented during the shoot by their outfits with each one utilizing different styling techniques and areas of fashion.
Benji Heath, a familiar face to many of you following the blog from the Savile Row shoot, was there sporting a dark green tailored blazer and waistcoat, with paisley tie and dark trousers that oozed luxurious style.
Scarlett from Scarlett London, a very successful fashion and lifestyle blogger, displayed elegance and confidence in a stunning blue dress and red suede boots.
Rich from The Classic Male was bringing in the Christmas cheer thanks to a festive holiday jumper, faded jeans and light tan chukka boots.
Thomas Benjamin Cooper was styling out a beautiful navy, floral patterned shirt and suede boots.
Finally Laura, from Loved By Laura, was showing off a very Mad Men-esque dress and faux fur stole that screamed Joan Harris styling.
We then went out into the streets of Shoreditch to have some fun and grab a few group shots. Our stops included Spitalfield Market, the BarberBarber salon, The Three Bells pub and a whole host of outdoor cafes. The looks from passers-by were enough to keep us all laughing even when the camera was shooting so the majority of shots ended up in some sort of mischief. Or, like below, with us not taking it seriously at all…
My thanks to Joe Brown’s and Ben, Scarlett, Tom, Laura and Rich for making the day so fun, I look forward to working with you all again at some point in the future.
