A few weeks back, I was invited by Drakes of London to go in for a haircut and to sample their services. Traditionally, I tend to review these places based on the decor, atmosphere, service and pricing as well as extras like staff friendliness and grooming ranges. However, during this appointment I had an experience that I had never come across before, one that forced me to reflect on my own achievements, insecurities and future plans. It wasn’t so much a haircut with a smile, as a haircut with a friend and it got me thinking about how often men can turn to barbers to vent their emotions and frustrations… View Post
As anyone who has read my blog or follows me on social media has seen, I am always sporting a clean-shaven look. Now, it’s important to note that this is not strictly through choice, but also because I simply am unable to grow any reasonable amount of facial hair. For some context, I’m 27, I eat a healthy diet, maintain a regular exercise routine and sleep as well as keeping a keeping my skin clear and moisturised. Despite this, however, I can’t seem to grow any more than a little peach fuzz around my chin and upper lip. So what’s it like being in a society where beards are widely seen as a sign of style, strength and masculinity, yet you’re incapable of growing one. View Post
In the past I’ve tried to avoid fragrances created by car companies as, from previous experience, I find they are an example of a company applying its strengths in one area (i.e. cars) and attempting to apply them to fragrance with limited success. However, when I received invitation and early press material on Bentley Momentum Intense, the latest cologne from the car manufacturer’s fragrance division, I was undeniably curious. So after a rather cold and wet trip through Central London, I headed to The Shard for the launch event in the Shangri-La hotel to see if Bentley could buck the trend of car company fragrances.
Also, there’s an opportunity for you to win a bottle of this fragrance before it hits the stores by following me on Twitter and retweeting the pinned post for this article. Winner’s will be announced in 2 weeks time on Wednesday 22nd March on Twitter.
As those who know me/follow me online know, over the past two weeks I’ve been away in Mexico enjoying some time away from social media, my inbox and the London lifestyle, which I will be writing about in the coming weeks. Before I left, Mankind offered to gift me some products that I wouldn’t usually try to help me on my travels and keep my skin healthy in the tropical weather. Traditionally, I tend to have 3 major problems with my skin when I’m in sunny climates, namely dry skin around the eyes, blocked pores (from sun cream, dust and oil) and greasy skin (again thanks to oily sun cream).
With these ailments in mind, I chose 3 well reviewed/recommended products which would help remedy the issues and were relatively easy to travel with:
Having never used peel masks, eye patches or an oil-free sun guard before I was excited to see how they performed. So I packed my bags, jumped on my flight and began putting them through their paces in the Mexican heat. View Post
Maintaining an even skin tone is difficult for many men and can be a constant source of frustration as well as loss of confidence when it comes to their own body image. Indeed, there is very little that can do more to damage your confidence in how your skin looks than blotches, red patches or darker areas of sun spots. So, today I wanted to run through the three steps, and the products used with them, that help me keep an even skin tone all year round that will also help protect your skin against harmful environmental effects as well as keep it healthy and young.
