Ted’s Grooming Rooms: The Traditional Turkish Barber

temp-1

The gentleman’s barber has changed dramatically over the years, with more alternative and modern barbers trying to target the growing demand for male grooming services. One of the most traditional types of barbershop is the Turkish barber, a fusion of classic luxury and modern barbering styles in one salon.

Ted’s Grooming Rooms have been making a name for themselves as one of the best places to get the full Turkish barber experience with experienced staff and customer service to match the luxurious atmosphere. I was fortunate enough to get a booking at their Holborn establishment and took myself along with high expectations. View Post

Review: Mankind Black Friday Box

temp-4

With Black Friday landing at the end of this week many of you will be looking for some of the best deals on men’s grooming, skincare and haircare. No doubt, there are a variety of retailers and brands to check out but it would appear that Mankind have done the majority of the legwork for you. Already a giant in the male grooming community, their Black Friday Offers page hosts a plethora of products with great discounts to help you stock up your bathroom (and purchase a few gifts) before Christmas.

I was gifted a few of these products and put them to the test this week to see if you still get value from the savings. The 6 products were Jack Black’s Double Duty Face Moisturizer, Korres Fig Shower Gel, Ab Crew Shave Cream, Redken Maneuver Working Wax, Men-U Deep Clean Clay Mask and Mazorin Liquid Asset Eye Serum. With the entire box coming in at £98, and considering the quality of the brands enclosed, the value was already quite visible.

So here is a quick run-down of what I thought of each product and whether they will become permanent fixtures on the bathroom shelf. If nothing else, Black Friday sales are a great time to try new products. View Post

The BarberBarber Gents Sharpen Up Spitalfields

IMG_1980

The Gentleman and The Scoundrel are probably fairly accurate representations of the duality of a man’s personality. This idea of a character with all the manners and respect of a gentleman but also the mischievous intentions of a rogue is common in society. Icons traditionally associated with the word “gentleman”, like James Bond and Sherlock Holmes, follow this dual personality of refined man and rascal.

So it is fitting that BarberBarber pride themselves on being a gentleman’s grooming salon for both gentlemen and scoundrels, offering some of the finest hair and beard treatments around to the men of England. Having been told about their excellent Liverpool branch by my younger brother Simon, I was excited to hear that they were opening a new shop in Spitalfields Market. A few weekends back I stopped by on the day of its launch to get a feel of how they’ve placed themselves in such a competitive market and what can be expected from the newest barbershop to hit the capital.
