Review: Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 Sensitive (sponsored)

Men's Grooming: Wilkinson Sword Review 1

For those who follow me on Twitter, you know I draw issue with the some of the larger brands who produce razors. As a result, I tend to stay away from them, favoring smaller brands who offer value for money and reliable quality in their products. Recently, I was sent Wilkinson Sword’s new Hydro 5 razor to trial and review and, with a fair amount of skepticism, I accepted. Over the past 2 weeks I’ve been trialing the razor (some of you may have seen it in my Instagram story last week), researching the costs of new blades and evaluating the benefits of the newly added features.

Review: American Crew Grooming Range

Men's Style: American Crew Grooming ReviewI realise I’ve done a few grooming reviews in a row over the past fortnight but it’s mainly because I’ve been so caught with the fashion side of things, that I completely forgot to maintain that area of the site. So, today I wanted to talk about one of the most prominent suppliers in men’s grooming and haircare, American Crew. With the tagline of “Official Suppliers to Men”, they can be found across most of the Western world in barbershops, salons and men’s spas with a variety of haircare, shower and styling products designed specifically for men. Indeed, one of the first hair styling purchases I ever made (at the tender age of 11) was a pot of styling cream from the local barbers. To this day they are still a brand I regularly return to as well as one that I always recommend to friends and followers.

For those of you who read the blog regularly, you know that I believe that grooming ranges created with men in mind so I was looking forward to putting it through its paces. With that in mind, here’s a collection of my thoughts on some products they sent me as well as how they performed over the past 2 weeks and whether they are value for money. View Post

Review: Aveda Grooming Collection

enlight1

A few weeks back I stopped by Aveda’s Soho Barber salon and reviewed the service which you can read here. Whilst I was there I really enjoyed the products being used during the treatments, so much so that I had to get my hand’s on some of the collection to find out what they are like to use on a day-to-day basis. After some research, I got a selection of products gifted from Aveda covering haircare, scalp maintenance and hair grooming to see how Aveda’s offering for men stands up against other brands across the industry. Speedy Grooming: Aveda’s Barber Salon Pop-Up

The Male Stylist: Aveda Grooming Salon

Many of the barbers I’ve reviewed and tried have been about indulging in the treatment, taking time to appreciate the luxury of the service and ultimately being rewarded with a full grooming experience designed to relax the mind as well as sharpen up your hairstyle. However, in this world of eating lunch at your desk, rushed coffee meetings and multiple social events all planned within the same 2 hour time period, it’s not always possible to spend an 60-90 minutes in the barber if you want to fit it all in.

Fortunately, Aveda have created a quirky solution to this problem by launching a temporary pop-up store in Soho, providing express men’s grooming treatments at fair prices. A few weeks back I was in need of a haircut during lunch so stopped by for one of their “express treatments” to get a feel for the salon and find out whether this is speed over service… View Post

Johnny’s Chop Shop & Grooming Review

enlight1-50Every now and then I pick up the bravery to try a different hairstyle, though usually this ends up being a slight refinement/change from my usual cut. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to have said new haircut at the recently opened branch of Johnny’s Chop Shop in Marshall St where there has been a great deal of buzz about their innovative and edgier style of doing things. Alongside the new digs, they also have released a new product range aimed at spreading their love of grooming to the homes and bathrooms of their customers.

Today I review their salon experience and some of their new product range, which they so kindly sent to me, to assess whether they make the cut alongside other great barbers of London. View Post
